SWEET MEMORIES FROM THE FOX ARCHIVES The Fox Theatre’s Restoration department has been busy preparing some special items from its archives for everyone to enjoy. Whether you consider yourself a “Raisinets” fan, or a “Milk Duds” fan, be sure and check out the old time candy wrappers now on display in the Spanish Room. They’ll surely bring back some “sweet” memories. Also on display, several photos from 1929-1932 when the Fox not only showed movies but featured vaudeville like shows performed by a group of female dancers known as the Fanchon and Marco “Sunkist Beauties.” Fanchon and Marco Wolff (later Wolf) were a sister and brother dance team who later launched a successful dance production company. The girls they employed performed a new routine each week. The “Ideas” as they were called, involved elaborate stage sets and costumes. Though as you can see from the photos we’ve selected, elaborate costumes didn’t always mean a lot of fabric. Afterall, why would you want to cover up a leggy-dancers’ best asset?*Be sure and keep a look out for future displays in the Spanish Room featuring holiday related photos, organist photos, as well as displays of old hardware, textiles and vintage usher uniforms. | | | | |

About the Fox
The historic Fox Theatre is one of Atlanta’s premiere venues for live entertainment. The Fox’s 4,678 seat theatre is booked more than 300 performances a year ranging from Broadway to rock to comedy to movies. In December 2009, Billboard Magazine ranked the Fox Theatre in Atlanta as "The #1 non-residency venue worldwide for the decade (5,000 seats or less)."
The Fox Theatre is located on Peachtree Street in the middle of the city. Not only is it on the National Historic Register, but it is one of the most beloved landmarks in the city because it is a real memory maker for the citizens of Atlanta. They may have come here to see their first performance or Broadway show, they had their first date here, and maybe even had their first kiss in the balcony. Our ballrooms are spectacular and have hosted everything from Sweet 16s to weddings and corporate events. We hold a special place in many people’s hearts, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We call it “The Fox Experience.” We hope you enjoy your experience here at the Fox!
